Sean Penn's marriage fell apart after his wife reportedly found him partying with two Russian girls in a hotel suite.

Robin Wright Penn reportedly decided to serve the Oscar-winning actor with divorce papers after a planned romantic break in California saw them staying in separate suites while Penn got drunk with two mystery women.

A source told America's Star magazine, "During their last weekend together, Sean didn't spend much time with his wife - he booked her a separate suite. When Robin got fed up with being alone, she went over to his suite. She found him drunk with two Russian girls!"

"He continued to party, while Robin was nowhere to be seen. When asked where his wife was, he answered, 'Who cares?' "

The supposed romantic getaway, in Lake Tahoe's Squaw Valley ski resort, took place just days before Christmas.

The couple have two children together, Hopper Jack, 14, and Dylan Frances, 16, and are said to be seeking joint custody.

Penn, 47, and Wright, 41, started dating in the early 90s and married in 1996, five years after their first child was born.

During their marriage, the couple starred in a number of films together, including 1998's "Hurlyburly" and "She's So Lovely" in 1997.

This will be Penn's second divorce. His four-year marriage to pop star Madonna ended in 1989, shortly before he started dating Wright.
