Spielberg, 61, said: ‘It's 19 years since we did the third film, ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', so we're both older, and we both certainly look a bit older. But there is no way Harrison was too old for this role. ‘He needed to recapture the caustic, laconic spirit of Dr. Jones, and he had to manage the action, and he did both of those things amazingly well. He was just a little more out of breath after every stunt, and so was I!' Ford also insists he was more than capable of slipping back into Indy's famous fedora hat and wielding his whip.
