In the latest case on the hip-hop police blotter, rapper Jasiel “Yung Joc” Robinson missed his arraignment today on a felony charge he received Monday (Dec. 24) for allegedly trying to board an airplane with a concealed weapon at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in Ohio. His lawyer, Stanley Jackson Jr., said the rap star was out of town attending to family obligations. That didn't sway Cuyahoga County prosecutor Gayle Williams, who said Robinson will be considered a fugitive and she will issue an arrest warrant for him. According to the Associated Press, Robinson was arrested around 6:20 Sunday morning after police found a semi-automatic handgun and ammunition in his carry-on bag at a security checkpoint. Robinson told police he had no prior knowledge of the weapon. “Yung Joc maintains his innocence. He would appreciate privacy as he addresses these allegations,” his lawyer, Stanley Jackson Jr. told the AP. He was released Monday on $50,000 bond, but the bail has now been doubled to $100,000. After a “106 & Park” premiere of his star-studded video for “Speedin’,” the first single from his sophomore effort, Trilla, rapper Rick Ross announced that the album’s release will be delayed until Feb. 19. The record was originally scheduled to be in stores last Tuesday (Dec. 18), but: “We had a few clearance issues, including one song produced by DJ Toomp,” Ross told Billboard.com. “It’s called ‘This Me’ and it’s a real personal record for me, so I wanted to make sure it got on the album. Toomp produced ‘White House’ on my first record [Port of Miami] and we made magic.” Also expected next year is Ross' acting debut in the movie “Days of Wrath” starring Laurence Fishburne and fellow rappers David Banner, Kurupt, and Slim Thug. Yonkers, NY rap collective The Lox will reunite on stage at the famed B.B. Kings in NYC tomorrow (Dec. 27). Although it’s unclear whether the group is promoting a specific project, according to SOHH.com, the performance may be followed up with a reunion album next year. Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch have not released a group album since 2000's We Are the Streets. The celebratory project was created after a highly publicized “Free the Lox” movement demanding the group’s release from their first major label contract with Bad Boy Records. In 2005, continued disagreements between Bad Boy CEO Sean “Diddy” Combs and The Lox were spilled onto the radio airwaves when the group announced they would not continue recording under their then Ruff Ryders/Interscope contract so long as Diddy maintained his share of their publishing. Meanwhile, the trio’s solo efforts continue. Jadakiss recently signed with Roc-A-Fella Records. Styles P released his Koch Records debut Super Gangster (Extraordinary Gentleman) earlier this month (Dec. 4), and Sheek Louch will release his Silverback Gorilla in March, also on Koch.
