TINA TURNER

A bizarre musical tracing the life of TINA TURNER is heading for the London stage.

The show, based on Turner's autobiography, will be called Simply The Best, according to reports.

It will chart everything from the singer's youth as Anna Mae Bullock, through her abusive marriage to the late Ike Turner, to her subsequent solo superstardom.

The musical will feature hits like Private Dancer, Let's Stay Together and What's Love Got to Do With It? Insiders claim the plot will include links to Egyptian mythology.

A source tells the New York Post, "(In one scene) the Egyptian queen (Hatshepsut) watches over Tina. When Ike pulls a gun on Tina, Hatshepsut shields her and the gun ‘leaps' out of Ike's hand."

The star's life has been explored dramatically a number of times, including in the film What's Love Got to Do With It, which cast Angela Basset as Turner, and in River Deep, A Tribute To Tina Turner, a 2006 musical inspired by the star's autobiography I, Tina.

Tina's ex-husband, Ike, died in his sleep last week (12Dec07).
