Bone Crusher, Wu-Tang Clan, DMX

Rap crew Wu-Tang Clan is using a Jedi mind trick on their fans for the promotion of latest opus, 8 Diagrams. Announcements came from their camp that the Clan is handing over the “power to influence” to fans by allowing the most loyal to compete to win a spot for their “8 Diagrams Tour” which began earlier this month (Dec. 15). In a concert-on-demand partnership with Eventful.com, Wu-Tang appearances can be summoned with the collective power of at least 1,500 fans per city… if they all visit www.Eventful.com/WuTangClan and vote. So far, the Los Angeles, CA metropolitan area is most likely to be the first to get a show. A statement released attributed the following persuasive quote to the entire Clan: “The Wu is back together, live and direct. All our fans have shown us mad love over the years, and we want to rock the cities that demand us the most. Much thanks to Eventful for letting us reconnect with our fans.” The competition continues through Feb. 1.

Atlanta-based rapper Bone Crusher, the biggest individual weight loss title-holder on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” is releasing a fitness DVD Feb. 12 called “Battle of the Bulge.” “I decided to put together a fitness DVD because there aren’t really any workout DVDs available to people who are significantly overweight, and those are the people who really need a routine that is effective and realistic,” he told AOL Black Voices. Crusher weighed in at 428 pounds at his largest and lost 78 of them on "Fit Club.” "Given the increase in obesity rates in this country, I thought it was important to provide a tool to help others in my position lose weight and increase health and wellness,” he said. “Battle of the Bulge” will offer four no-equipment-needed workout routines including modified couch and bed exercises for those at the beginning stages.

After a label switch to Sony for 2006’s Year of the Dog…Again, and a greatest hits release, The Definition of X: The Pick of the Litter, from his former Def Jam Records label earlier this year, rapper DMX has been adopted by new label (fittingly called) Bodog Music. “I’m thankful for the fact that Bodog believes in me, that we share the same vision and the fact that they see in me the same thing I see,” he said in a statement. “I’ll show you [Bodog Music] how it’s supposed to be done, and we’ll get to where we’re supposed to be. You got a dog for life.” Bodog is known internationally in the corporate world as a gaming powerhouse. Recorded music is a new division for the company and DMX – the only rap artist to have 5 albums (his entire catalogue at the time) debut at Billboard’s No.1 slot – already has an album planned. Though a release date has yet to be announced, Walk With Me Now and You’ll Fly With Me Later is set to include collaborations with his former collaborators Swizz Beatz and Ruff Ryders.
