Saigon

Just one month after announcing he would retire from hip-hop before ever dropping an album (see "Saigon Retires From Hip-Hop?"), Saigon has re-thought his decision and decided he will come out of retirement.

According to the rapper, via another blog on his Myspace page, he decided that retiring might not be the best decision after speaking to "real" industry people and those in his circle.

"The example I would be ultimately setting by just quitting at something [the kids] know I love doing and have worked so hard at... I thought about a lot of things...," Saigon wrote. "After all the messages from ya'll, the phone calls from the 'real' industry people, and just the thinking I did, I decided two things: I decided that right now quitting is not an option for me; and number 2, that if I'm going to continue to make music and do this rap thing, I'm playing by MY OWN RULES."

Despite his change of heart, the rapper explained that he feels very much the same way he did last month when he announced his retirement, but things need to change.

"I still feel the same way I did a month ago when I expressed how I felt about the state of hip-hop," he said. "I still feel it needs a major makeover. I expressed this to my team and what they said was 'If not you Saigon, then who?'"

Saigon also revealed that his long overdue debut, The Greatest Story Never Told, is complete and calls it the "most relevant album since ... [for]ever."

He also said that it will include 12 features, and a track produced by Kanye West and Just Blaze in a joint effort.

There is no official word as to when the album is expected to drop. Stay tuned for further details.
