Ike Turner

Tina Turner will not attend ex-husband Ike Turner's funeral. Ike -who died on Wednesday (12.12.07) at his California home aged 76 - was married to Tina for 16 years, during which time he repeatedly physically abused her.

Friends of Tina said there is no way the 'Private Dancer' singer will be attending Ike's funeral in San Diego next week.

One friend said: "Tina hasn't seen Ike for 35 years and last time she did see him he treated her appallingly, so there's no way she will be going to the service to pay tribute to him."

Following Ike's death, Tina's agent Michele Schweitzer said: "Tina is aware that Ike passed away. She has not had any contact with him in 35 years. No further comment will be made."

During their marriage, Ike and Tina performed as a duo with hits including 'Proud Mary', and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. Ike made what most music critics believe was the first rock'n'roll record ever, 'Rocket 88', in March 1951.

He had four children - Ike Jr., Michael, Ronald and Mia.

I think that Tina should not have attended the funeral because Ike Turner was a very mean and nasty drug using negro. and Tina has undoubtedly transformed herself into the white mans world. so Her being racist is justified.

Ms. Turner should attend the funeral of the father of her children. She had the opportunity, money and fame to permanently villify Ike in the movie "What's Love God to Do With it". Given her faith in Buddism all of these years she should forgive and attend his funeral.

Tina made her peace over the situation with Ike a long time a go. I believe she is trying to keep the past in its place.

My opinion i think Tina Turner should attend the services......even through the hard and rough times they had......plus the repeatedly beatings.....she should forgive him but just pay her last repect to the man that did her wrong and supposely loved her but Ms.TinaTurner needds to pay her respect a enough is said.....

Why would people expect Tina to attend Ike's funeral. If you watch old clips on TV (see them on YOU TUBE), you can that Ike is seething because Tina does all the talking (very eloquently considering her background), and he mugs, rolls his eyes, and looks at her with the look of "I'm gonna kick yoh ass when we get outta heyah". Ike may have been blessed musically, but he certainly doesn't come across as a kind and decent human being. No, I'm nor judging him, just an observation. No harm intended.
