BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - The nominees for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards were announced this past week in Los Angeles and once again THE FLAMING LIPS have been nominated. This year's nomination is in a new category for the band; "Best Surround Sound Album" for their current Warner Bros. Records album, "At War With The Mystics," (David Fridmann and THE FLAMING LIPS producers). This marks the band's 6th nomination overall since 2002.

In 2006, the Lips were nominated in three categories and won two awards; "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" for the track "The Wizard Turns On..." from "At War With The Mystics," and "Best Engineered Album Non-Classical," also from "At War With The Mystics."
