Francis Ford Coppola

Filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola has accused Hollywood studios of recycling movie ideas because they are only interested in making money.

The Godfather director claims studios won't take risks on creative new ideas, because it's easier to stick to formulas that guarantee box office takings.

He tells the New York Post, "There's no question that regular big-studio films have become familiar. You go and you say, 'Haven't we seen this movie?'

"And the answer is yes, because that's the business model. The word 'risk' isn't in their vocabulary.

"Fortunately, we have independent films that are interesting and made by people who sacrificed for it."
