LATEST: U.S. TV star GARY COLLINS will not be prosecuted for manslaughter, after the elderly man hit by a car driven by the drunk actor died on Friday (07Dec07).
The 69-year-old was arrested after crashing his black Ford Explorer into a blue Toyota while driving through Sherman Oaks, California in October (07).
Collins was sentenced to 96 hours in jail and 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty to drink-driving last week (ends09Dec07). But Warren Gates, 89, has now died from injuries sustained in the collision.
According to website TMZ.com, police will not prosecute Collins for manslaughter because Gates caused the crash by making an illegal left-turn, and authorities must prove it was Collins who caused the accident.
