Internet gossip that romantically linked teenage R&B star Chris Brown with his manager, Tina Davis, is said to be absolutely untrue by the singer’s inner circle. In a statement release by the camp, they say “Chris Brown and his manager, Tina Davis have a strictly professional relationship. Ms. Davis has been instrumental in helping Chris achieve success as a multi-talented singer/dancer/actor. Rumors that the relationship goes beyond a working one are not only patently false, they diminish her efforts and his undeniable talents.” Apparently, Atlanta-based blogger Sandra Rose was one of the more prominent bloggers reporting the information and she says her sources are accurate. “Normally I wouldn’t report a story like this without solid proof,” Rose wrote. “But my source is well-placed and very credible.” Rapper Ludacris and singer Corrine Bailey Rae are among those performing tomorrow at former South African president Nelson Mandela’s fifth “46664” AIDS benefit concert in Johannesburg, South Africa in recognition of World AIDS Day. The concert is named after the prison number Mandela was issued while incarcerated on Robben Island for 27 years. The Goo-Goo Dolls, Peter Gabriel and local acts will also be performing. “These artists between them reach into every one of our communities—upholding Mr. Mandela’s message that HIV/AIDS is not a local issue, but a universal one,” a statement released by concert organizers read. Rappers Trick Daddy, Wyclef Jean, DJ Khaled, Red Rat and others will be in Miami, FL’s Little Haiti neighborhood tomorrow for a block party event in recognition of World AIDS Day. Hosted by The 3rd Annual Florida Entertainment Summit, Trick Daddy’s Trick Luvs Da Kids Foundation, The City of Miami, and Chef Creole Restaurant, activities include a free concert and fashion show for the community. John Legend was in town last night, hosting the official kick-off party for the summit that also includes panel discussions about the state of the industry. After releasing The Dream Merchant 2 in October, producer 9th Wonder is already preparing for the Jan. 29 release of his new LP, The Wonder Years. The album will feature Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, Q-Tip, Teedra Moses, Mos Def, and Little Brother, among others. “My calling is soul music – just good for the soul and good to listen to,” 9th Wonder said according to BallerStatus.com. “It’s more reminiscent of the great pantheon of Black music, and I want to be mentioned in that somewhere. Somebody has to come along and join what Common and all of these other great emcees started, we really have to start looking at the situation of how we affect young Black men and women. In the past music has been used for good, music has always had a message in it, and I just want to be a part of that legacy.” The mother of late R&B singer Luther Vandross, Mrs. Mary Ida Vandross, and New Jersey’s Dawson & Nye Auctioneers and Appraisers will be hosting an auction beginning this Sunday through Dec. 6 of items from his estate.
