On their sophomore album, "D12 World", the Dirty Dozen comes off sounding more like a group of emcees on the same page, as opposed to a group of emcees surrounding one phenomenal emcee, namely Eminem. The album is altogether hot and pieced together nicely with dark, moody tracks provided by Hi-Tek, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Eminem, Trackboyz (Lil' John), Witt & Pep, Night & Day, and Mr. Porter. Other emcees featured on the album are B-Real of Cypress Hill, Obie Trice, Young Zee of the Outsidaz, and Bugz (who passed away). The listener can obviously see that D-12 was given much more creative control over the project due to the explicit slick lyrics provided by each member, as well as, overall cohesiveness. The album is not only comical and satirical, but it also has its serious side as well (check out "Good Die Young"). Of course, there are tracks that were created for the purpose of album sales ("40 OZ", which seems to be targeted to the club audience) but once you get past that realization, you can appreciate the album as a nice collection of songs with battle-esque hits and smashes. D-12 definitely commands respect, and in my humble opinion, I believe they deserve it. They do not come off wack in any way, shape or form. Stand out songs on the album are "Git Up", "Just Like U" (produced by Hi-Tek), "My Band", "U R The One" (for the females), "6 In The Morning", "Get My Gun", "Bitches", "D-12 World" (produced by Kanye West), "American Psycho II" (feat. B-Real, produced by Dr. Dre), and "Keep Talkin" (mixtape shit). Overall, the Dirty Dozen has great chemistry together and they come off strong. "D-12 World" is definitely a nice addition to anyone's collection. Out.
