feenom circle

The Feenom Circle isn't a group you're likely to have heard about, although according to their bio, they've been in the game for 6 years. It's really hard to keep track of all the underground artists these days. With the advent of the digital home studio, underground artists have started popping up left and right. It's a shame because a lot of tight crews are getting lost in the shuffle. Although I wouldn't say these guys are the dopest, they definitely have some staying power as long as they can get their product out there.

This EP, which consists of 8 songs, holds it's own musically. The beats on this album are tight as hell. I wanna say reminiscent of Jay Dee's production but I hate categorizing producers like that. There's a lot of the same elements present, nice synths, clean snares, little ambient noises that fill up space perfectly. One thing I really liked is that they used a lot of beat box noises instead of a pre recorded drum sound...on top of drum sounds. That kind of thing gives this album a real organic feel that a lot of fools are missing these days.

Lyrically, these guys are tight but their flows need a little more work in my opinion. Sometimes they just don't ride the beat right or the words just sound a little too forced. It's not that these guys sound bad, because they all have good voices, it's just that they don't sound completely comfortable and they don't really have flows that are completely THEIRS. There are times though, when they sound natural and right on point with the beats but it's not 100%. Like I said, lyrically they are tight though. This EP is definitely a breath of fresh air. It's good to hear artists that speak on an intelligent level but can still keep that vibe that has you nodding your head.

So, if you want to hear intelligent hip hop over banging beats, pick this shit up, but don't expect to be amazed. That said, I am definitely going to be checking for these guys in the future. I can definitely see them making a name for themselves.
