Busta Rhymes has returned, yet again, with a new release. "It Ain't Safe No More", Busta's sixth solo album, gives fans almost that perfect blend of razor sharp production skills with raw lyricism that we've come to expect from someone of his caliber. Guest appearances on the album include Sean Paul, Mariah Carey and Carl Thomas, in addition to members of his own Flipmode Squad. Rah Digga weighs in on "Together", where the focus is how they have remained successful by sticking together through the struggles of the game. The entire Flipmode Squad appears on "I Know What You Want", which also features Mariah Carey, while fellow hypeman and lyricist Spliff Star share mic time with Busta on the lead single, "Make It Clap". Produced by the Neptunes, "Make It Clap" is sure to get any party crunk, if it already isn't! A remix of this track is also featured as a bonus, which features Sean Paul! Also produced by the Neptunes is "Call The Ambulance.
See Also:While the above mentioned songs are top notch material, the hottest results come courtesy of DJ Scratch with "What Do You Do When You're Branded" and Dilla with "What Up". "What Up" has a bit of a space-aged vibe to it, but it's also something that you can move to in the club! Also getting an A+ on this album is the collaboration with Carl Thomas on "The Struggle Will Be Lost", which borrows from the Gilligan's Island Theme! The beat is a bit reminiscent of Mystikal's "Bouncin Back(Bumpin Me Against The Wall), although it's not the same. I think it was cool how much of the material on Busta's past albums was related to the state of the world, and how it would soon end. You really don't get much of that feel anymore with this new album, although you do get a bit of a reminder on "Til It's Gone". Overall, I think the album is pretty good, but at the same time, I can't help but feel that it is a bit rushed. His last album, "Genesis", was released only a year ago, and radio only received two singles. The album clearly had more material that could have been pushed to radio, and would have pushed album sales a bit. "It Ain't Safe No More" appears to be the same way, so hopefully, we will hear more from this album before we get a new one.
