With the monotonous words commercialism, mainstream & pop plaguing our culture today, most of us feel there's no hope or cure for this illness infecting our minds. If we dig deep, keep the faith, eventually life will spawn a cure. Through the evolution of Hip Hop comes a new breed, a breed that will take us back to roots of our culture. Today this evolution has arrived. With real b-boyism in action, true hip-hop activist have emerged. Activist such as the Lyricist Lounge and Rawkus Records, activists like our hip-hop wonder-kid Mos Def. When artists of this caliber link up and bump heads; Yo kid! sit back, relax, strap on your seatbelt and enjoy the ride. Your about to take a journey to a place in hip-hop that has been forgotten by most, a place where real hip-hop lives.

Off the first release of the Lyricist Lounge 2 compilation, Mic Media (the Lyricist Lounge) and Rawkus bring us Ms. Fat Booty 2, (a fresh perspective and sequel to the 1998 debut) Ms. Fat Booty 2 headlines Mos Def and features Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan. Arguably the most prolific lyricist today, Mos Def, delivers a flow that makes your joints crack from your neck to your pinky toe as you kick back bobbing your head to the refreshing sounds of the breakbeat. Just when you thought you had enough, in comes Ghostface, slicing your mind with the raw, darker style that is evoked by his weapon of choice; the mic. By dropping this track first and keeping true to the ideology of what the Lyricist Lounge is about, the Producers gave us a little taste of how eclectic this compilation will be. With the collaboration of two artists from separate wings of the industry but with the same belief in The Cause, this tracks not for everyone. Who's this music for? It's for the real b-boys and b-girls, poppin' and breakin' in their basements, it's for the lyricist who enlighten our minds with spoken tongue, meditating with their pen and their pad; this track is for those of us wanting to be cured, those of us who keep the faith.
