The West Coast-the land known for sunny days and gangsta rap music has always had one of hip-hops most prolific lyricists under its wing just waiting for the right moment to let him shine. Aceylone, one of the most unique lyrical heavyweights has been in the game since the early 90's as a member of Freestyle Fellowship. Eager to step out of the boundaries, Freestyle Fellowship blessed hip-hop in its entirety with its sharp hooks and jazzy riffs on their innovative major label debut "Inner City Griots" in 1994. Always considered ahead of his time, Aceylone took his lyrical gift immediately following the Freestyle Fellowship project onto a solo debut with Capitol creatively titled, "All Balls Don't Bounce." This LP might not have landed Acey at the top of every hip hop quotable list or on the cover of every hip hop magazine but the LP defined Acey and allowed him to shine as the true prolific emcee he has always been.
See Also:Acey's current project "Accepted Eclectic" on Ground Control/Nu Gruv continues to display his undeniable lyrical talents and passion to keep hip hop fresh and righteously expanding beyond its current status. On "Microphone" featuring P.E.A.C.E Acey uses his one of a kind lyrical approach to question emcees about their recycled styles and used microphones on which they flow upon. With a strong repetitive base and catchy tempo, Acey rides the track like that of perfection. "Serve and Protect" a joint about serving emcees lyrically and protecting hip hop unconsciously causes the neck to nod over the simple track that compliments Acey's demanding voice as he defends hip hop and what it really stands for. Always respecting hip hop to the fullest, Acey remade the classic by veteran EdO.G "I Gotta Have It Too" not only does Acey deliver in all other categories but he completes the package with this remake as the old school classic flows and reminds one of how creative hip hop has been since its early days and how it just isn't gonna stop anytime soon with emcees like Acey present in the game. Hip hop has become the voice for more than just urban America, it has expanded out to suburban limits and has become the eyes for those that have been on the outside of the culture looking in. With emcees like Acey, hip hop will continue to redefine itself and play its role in changing the world and society as we have come to know.
